The harvest this year is bountiful. Pick your pumpkin and create real recipes in this cosy point-and-click game!

If you go down to the pumpkin patch today, you're in for a big surprise. The pumpkins you've been growing all summer have spread across your little garden, and it's time to harvest them before they spoil. 

Inside your home, your grandmother's recipe cards are tucked away in your kitchen, filled with wholesome recipes that are perfect for each kind of pumpkin you've grown. While the town outside your window enjoys clear, blue skies, you decide to sequester yourself away in your autumnal kitchen, preparing and cooking whichever gourd takes your fancy.

• Features hand-drawn art based on real pumpkins.
• Enjoy creating recipes designed for each type of pumpkin with a Cooking Mama-style minigame.
• Learn about the history of various pumpkins you may never have heard of!
• Check out the full recipe for each pumpkin in the Pumpkidex to try making the dish for yourself at home (or test it out on your loved ones).

How to Play

Pumpkidex is a point-and-click game, so you'll only need your mouse to play! You can navigate between the house and the pumpkin patch via the white door when you're inside the house, and you only need to move your mouse and use your left-click to interact with the pumpkins, recipe cards, and Pumpkidex in the game. 

Each pumpkin in the field corresponds to one recipe card. You can tell which card to choose by looking at the facial expressions on the card. 

When cooking, there are three additional actions: 

• To CUT, click on the cutting board until the metre fills up far enough and the game moves onto the next action
• To MIX, click and hold the whisk and move it in a clockwise motion. 
• To HEAT, simply wait while the game "cooks" your dish. 

If you open the Pumpkidex, you can learn real information about each type of pumpkin we included in the game, and there are full recipes written by Lyssa that you can make and enjoy. 

When you're ready to stop playing, you can press ESC if you've downloaded the game to play on Desktop, or just exit the page on your browser. 

We recommend downloading the game (download, unzip the folder, and run Pumpkidex) for our intended experience, but it does run on itch.io, too.
